Physiotherapy: Managing Movement

identifying and retraining movement faults

We Manage Movement specialises in identifying and retraining movement faults that cause pain or pathology. We use movement control tests to identify the cause of your problems as well as any form of movement compensation due to pain. We analyse how these movement faults affect your symptoms and function. We aim to fully understand your problem, the cause of your problem as well as the factors contributing to it. We aim to educate you to understand your problem as well as provide you with the tools to manage your problem in the long term.

If you have a movement fault then that can potentially lead to repetitive wear & tear until eventually you end up with pain/pathology. Once you have pain/pathology the body goes into a protective measure resulting in a change in how you move. Therefore leading to compensations in the body. With the Kinetic Control concept we aim to understand the cause/reason for the symptoms. We assess the link between the movement fault & the symptoms to therefore improve the movement efficiency to improve your symptoms. We address the movement faults through specific individual retraining programs based on the results from the movement control tests that you failed. We aim to improve the movement faults as well as improve your function & disability due to pain.

Once the symptoms are better it does not necessarily mean the movement faults/impairments are gone. The movement control tests will show which movement faults are still present that could lead to further compensations or recurrence of symptoms.

We have specialised movement training including Kinetic Control Movement Therapists (KCMT). KCMT's have studied in depth the assessment, retraining as well as management of uncontrolled movement.
