Even when your pain subsides, these muscle imbalances can remain and still affect your function. Proper rehabilitation is needed to improve your movement patterns and strength.

In chronic pain patients, we also need to address other factors that may be driving your pain. If pain has been present for such a long time, our brain changes the way it perceives stimuli. This means that an holistic approach is needed to find all factors that are contributing to pain.

Workability Back and Neck Assistance Program
The Workability Back and Neck Assistance Program (BNAP) is an evidence-based and active rehabilitation program aimed at helping patients living with chronic back and neck pain to improve function, treat the cause of their pain and recover their quality of life.
If your medical aid has a contract with Workability and you meet the criteria, you can request authorisation to see if you qualify. If your medical aid gives authorisation, then the BNAP program will not cost you anything as the full cost of BNAP is covered by your medical aid and is not taken from your medical savings account.
